One of my main clients for the last 3 years has been Idaho Transportation Department. My company refreshed their style and one of the largest components of that refresh was the illustration style. The original idea was to utilize the style of highway signs and use them as colorful backgrounds or small design elements, but as I got into the project, the illustrations took a life of their own. You can see a short video that our motion graphic designer and I created using the original illustration style below, but soon after it developed into the monoline style that all the other ads feature.

Before we knew it, a huge amount of ITD’s digital ads and even some print ads focused on the creative possibilities of the illustrations. My designs have been featured throughout ITD’s social media, website, and have won multiple awards through the state.

It’s incredible to see the possibilities that can come from just a couple lines.
